Demo by Leslie Rich
For the past two years I’ve been doing a “sketch-of-day.” The sketches actually have turned out to be small watercolors done directly from life, drawn in ink, then watercolor added. It’s been invigorating challenging and rewarding. There is a page on my website dedicated to the “sketches”. I’ve turned 12 of the sketches into a calendar. I’m now posting my daily sketches on instagram (Instagram – @lrichcolors) and on Facebook (Leslie Rich).
Demo by Marsha Connell
My paintings are about the spirit of place. Though my subjects are inspired by my travels both her and abroad, I find some of my most resonant themes in Northern California, where I have lived for over thirty years. Painting on location, en plein aire, in oil, watercolor, or pastel, I observe the place: mood, shapes, color, and spatial relationships. I reflect on how the sense of place affects my own interior landscape.
